LOVELY Little Circle Farm Alpaca HATS!
Little Circle Farm Alpacas is very pleased to offer hand knitted and felted alpaca hats in our Little Farm Store. Several years ago, I asked our long-time friend, Karen Smith, if she would be interested in knitting for our farm. Karen has been knitting since childhood, but had not knitted with alpaca before. She was eager to try and has been won over to alpaca from her first project. Karen is now knitting for us with her own label: “KarenKnits.” Karen’s hats and scarves have won “Best of Show” and multiple Blue Ribbons in every AOBA Fiber Arts Show she has entered. Karen is knitting hats and scarves made of 100% Little Circle Farm alpacas. She is also knitting and felting hats using dyed alpaca yarns from South America. We are very please to have Karen knitting for our farm.
Every “KarenKnits” hat is a treasure. We invite you to wear Karen’s one-of-a-kind alpaca hats.
“DREAM-COME-TRUE” ALPACA BLANKETS
Made from 100% Little Circle Farm Alpaca fleece
For several years we have been working toward our dream of offering blankets made entirely from the fleece of our lovely alpaca herd. We are very excited to announce that our “Dream Come True” Alpaca Blankets are a reality. We saved three years of fleece from our older alpacas of color: blacks, browns, fawns and greys, for this project. We had the fleece sorted and graded by Heather Arenas, Certified Sorter, and used Grade 4 for the blankets. Sally Brandon, weaver and owner of Shepherd’s Mill in Phillipsburg, Kansas, has processed our fleece to yarn since 2003. Sally has been my good-guide in the process of making this project happen. And happen it has–from our alpaca dream, to our alpacas’ fleece, to the yarn, and on to Sally’s loom, our “Dream Come True” blankets are here. The warp yarn of each blanket was spun from a blend of fleece from our brown alpacas. The weft yarns of our two-color blankets were spun from our true black, medium fawn, light fawn and grey alpacas. We were able to produce 18 throw-size, blankets, 72”long (78” including fringe) X 50” wide. These are heirloom blankets, 100% alpaca from our alpacas, no dyes, all natural color. We entered one of the blankets in the 2008 Alpaca Breeders of the Rockies (ABR) Fall Festival Fiber Arts Show and took a Blue Ribbon! You, or someone you love, will surely treasure wrapping up in one of these blankets this winter and for many winters to come. And what fun it will be to know that the original producer of your blanket is living happily at Little Circle Farm Alpacas!
